RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Every applicant admitted as resident of the Home shall strictly follow the rules and regulations of the Home.

  • Smoking, drinking alcohol, tobacco chewing, card playing for money, etc. are strictly prohibited within the Home.

  • No resident shall be allowed to keep firearms/weapons/harmful substances/medicines that could be dangerous with him/her inside the Home.

  • No resident shall be allowed to run any business from the Home nor shall anyone be allowed to undertake any job/employment.

  • No resident shall be allowed to cook food inside his/her room.

  • Consumption of nonvegetarian food is not allowed in the Home.

  • The resident will be allowed to keep with him/her minimum luggage, preferably up to two suitcases.

  • Furniture belonging to the resident will be allowed in the Home only with prior permission from the Home authorities.

  • Any resident going out of the Home must return before 8.30 PM, except in case of an emergency or with the prior permission of the management.

  • Residents are permitted to stay out of the campus overnight or for a short duration with a friend/family, on giving prior intimation.

  • A permanent resident wishing to leave the Home is required to give one month’s prior written notice, whereas a temporary resident needs to give one week’s notice in writing or orally.

  • To provide a high standard of health care, the Home collects personal information/ health history/copies of medical reports from applicants. This information is usually collected from the applicant, but can also be collected from family members and other health care providers.

  • If a member desires to go on a holiday or vacation for a period not exceeding 30 days (at a time), he/she may do so after informing the Management, and such permission will normally be granted as a matter of course. However, if any resident proceeds on leave for more than 30 days or he/she extends his/her leave beyond 30 days, his/her room can be allotted to any other needy person. He/she may be allotted another room as per availability upon his/her arrival.

  • The Home has full discretion to shift any resident to any room as conditions warrant, at all times ensuring the comfort, privacy and safety of the resident.

  • Neither any resident nor a donor enjoys any proprietary or other right(s), title or interest in respect of any room or over any part/portion of the Home.

  • It will be the responsibility of every resident to take care of his/her personal articles and belongings and the Management will not be responsible for the loss of any article or belonging.

  • A relative wanting to stay as a guest must obtain prior permission from the Home Manager. Guest charges have to be borne by the resident/guest.

  • In case a resident has any ailment, information will be passed on to the resident’s family/local guardian whose details have been provided by him/her in the application form, as early as possible. If the relatives/guardian of the resident are unable to accompany the resident to the doctor, the Home will make the necessary arrangements as deemed fit. All expenses incurred will have to be borne by the resident. No complaint in the regard will be entertained with regard to the treatment given/doctor consulted/hospital visited.

  • A resident falling seriously ill will be hospitalised and intimation will be passed on to the resident’s close relation/local guardian whose details have been provided by him/her in the application form, as early as possible before and after hospitalisation. If the relatives/guardian of the resident wants to shift the resident to any other hospital, they can do so at their expense. All hospitalization expenses incurred will have to be borne by the resident.

  • When a resident is less involved/not involved in his/her own care/treatment owing to long-term physical and mental health conditions, and in case no local guardian /no close relative is available to take the responsibility, the care/treatment plan approved by the doctor on the panel will be followed.

  • Any dispute arising between residents should be brought to the knowledge of the Home Manager, whose decision will be binding.

  • Any complaint with regard to the medical care/treatment provided by the Home has to be submitted in writing providing complete details within one month. After this period, no complaint or grievance whatsoever as regards to the medical treatment or alleged negligence of any sort will be entertained.

  • A permanent resident wishing to leave the Home may do so after (1) filling in the Application for Leaving Home, (2) clearing all dues, and (3) returning all items provided by the Home for the resident’s use during the stay.

  • If any resident wishes to donate his/her body parts such as eyes, kidneys, etc. or the body on his/her death in the Home, the same should be declared beforehand with the knowledge of the residents’ family, so that the Home can take appropriate action in time.

  • In the unfortunate event of death of a resident, efforts will be made by the Home as soon as possible to contact his/her family/guardian on the telephone/messaging/email and at the address available in the office records. In case the relative responsible/guardian fails to satisfactorily respond within 1 day of the demise, funeral arrangements will be made by the Home in such a manner as may be deemed appropriate.

  • In the event of failure to contact the relative due to any reason whatsoever beyond the control of the Home, the above action will be taken only after 3 days. No complaint or grievance whatsoever as regards to the medical treatment or alleged negligence of any sort and/or as regards the storage/disposal of the body will be entertained.

  • The Home takes all steps to ensure the safety of the residents and follows risk management practices reasonably. However, in the case of unpredictable accidents beyond the control of the Home, the Home cannot be held responsible.

  • Any resident or his/her nominee/legal heir shall not have, nor he/she shall be deemed to have acquired, at any time, any right, title or interest whatsoever in the accommodation allotted to the resident or his/her nominee, or in any part or parcel of the common facilities and amenities provided at the Home for the use of the resident. The entire property shall be always in the possession of the Home and occupants have no right, title or interest in the premises other than to live in the room allotted to them from time to time. The Home Manager is authorized to change the allotment of the room at any time at his/her sole discretion and the same shall bind the occupant(s), and no complaint will be entertained in this respect by the Home.

  • The Home is authorized to transfer any resident between its facilities in Chennai and Puducherry at any time at its sole discretion with advance information to the residents and their close relatives/guardians and the same shall bind the occupant(s), and no complaint will be entertained in this respect by the Home.

  • If any resident is given notice and requested to leave the Home by the Home Manager, he/she will not have any objection.

  • If any legal dispute arises between any resident or his/her relative responsible/local guardian and the Home, the court of jurisdiction will be MADRAS COURT only.

  • The Home reserves the right to make any addition to, alteration in or deletion from these rules and regulations from time to time as may be deemed expedient in accordance with changes in time and circumstances. The Home will communicate these changes in rules and regulations to the residents/relatives responsible/local guardians periodically.
